Twenty - one year old, Bijan Shaw is a talented upcoming recording artist and actor. She was born in the Bronx, NY and she experienced the best of both worlds while growing up between Yonkers, N.Y. and Greensboro, N.C.
Her mother, Deb Shaw first noticed Bijan’s gift for music when she discovered her daughter, at three years old, soulfully banging on the piano. Soon after, Bijan was enrolled at The Belle School of Music, for piano, in Scarsdale, N.Y.
Currently, she is studying at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University as a theatre and journalism student.
Bijan has always had a passion for the arts, and is constantly showcasing her talents, on stage in a play, performing classical piano, or at a dance recital.
She recently performed as Eunice Waymon in Little Girl Blue, a drama concert that depicts the internal world of Nina Simone versus her younger self Eunice Waymon. This play was initially shown at the SECCA Theatre in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and it was also performed at the Metropolitan Room in New York, on March 25, 2017, and it will be featured at the Black Theatre Festival in Winston Salem, North Carolina, during the summer.
Shaw has worked with the highly respected Mabel Robinson at the North Carolina Black Repertoire Company where she played the role of La La from The Colored Museum and performed in Crowns. Just last summer, Bijan studied abroad at the British American Drama Academy where she had the opportunity to premiere in classical performances in Oxford, England.
Bijan also received credits for attending the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. She starred in her first independent film as Stephanie in Day Dreams & Weird Facts. Don’t be fooled by what you first see, Shaw’s craft in the arts embodies skill and truth that constantly blows people away.
There are no boundaries when it comes to her craft and she considers herself to be an evolving artist, and refuses to be placed in a box. She loves classical music, as well as hip hop, and her influences (among others) are, Nina Simone, Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, and of course Beyonce.
She recently released a new single, “They Know”, produced by Black The Beast, and she is currently in the studio recording new music.
